Job summary

Buckland, a global trade services provider, is seeking an On-Site Logistics Supervisor in Battle Creek, Michigan. This role manages inbound logistics, international ocean freight, warehousing, and final-mile delivery, coordinating with customers, carriers, and Buckland teams to ensure material availability and excellence in service.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in freight forwarding or international logistics, strong SOP/KPI experience, and XMS/CargoWise proficiency.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or related field.
• 7+ years freight forwarding or international logistics experience, with 3+ years in customer-facing roles.
• Fluency in Hindi strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of international ocean import/export operations, carrier management, and procurement.
• Experience developing customer SOPs, KPIs, and operational processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
• US air and ocean credentials including IATA and FMC.
• Experience in high-volume ocean freight programs, automotive OEM/Tier 1 preferred.
• CargoWise or similar TMS experience.
• Project management and/or continuous improvement experience.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the US; passport travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned strategic accounts and build strong customer relationships.
• Manage day-to-day international ocean import and export operations, including shipment coordination and exception resolution.
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas offices, NVOCCs, drayage providers, and logistics partners.
• Develop and maintain customer-specific SOPs, KPIs, workflows, and service standards.
• Lead customer business reviews and provide performance reports with insights.
• Investigate and resolve service issues, claims, escalations, and risks.
• Support carrier procurement, rate management, and transportation solutions.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Support customer implementations, onboarding, account growth, profitability, and retention.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customs, Finance, and other teams on integrated solutions.
