The role focuses on testing, evaluating, and maintaining meteorological observing equipment and weather data collection systems, guiding test missions with scientific rigor. The candidate will lead test activities, interpret complex data, apply theory to improve methods, and supervise teams while independently handling tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Science or related major required; MS preferred.
• 6+ years of direct experience in the test and evaluation of meteorological observing equipment.
• Hands-on experience with weather data collection systems and scientific instrumentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong technical writing capabilities.
• Must obtain operational, programming, and maintenance certifications on laboratory equipment; Certified Calibration Technician within 180 days of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Lead the test and evaluation of meteorological observing equipment and weather-based collection systems.
• Analyze and interpret complex meteorological data to assess sensor performance and system accuracy.
• Apply meteorological theory to support development and improvement of observational methods, techniques, and instrumentation.
• Operate, program, and maintain scientific equipment and laboratory instrumentation.
• Lead project teams, delegating tasks to achieve mission goals with limited supervision.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and prepare high-quality test plans, reports, and documentation.
