Job summary

UES in Phoenix, Arizona seeks a Laboratory Technician I to support geotechnical, construction materials testing, and environmental projects. You will prepare samples, operate testing equipment, and document results to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, follows procedures, and communicates effectively with engineers and field teams. Safety and quality assurance are central to daily duties in a controlled laboratory and sometimes field settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in construction materials testing or related lab work.
• OSHA/safety PPE adherence is essential.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office and data collection software.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documents and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials following ASTM, AASHTO, and other standards to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Document and report test results with detailed, organized records.
• Assist with sample preparation, handling, and proper storage to maintain sample integrity.
• Operate laboratory testing equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Communicate with lab supervisors, engineers, and field personnel on results and status.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the laboratory team.
