Job summary

ARUP Laboratories is seeking an on-site specimen processor to join CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga team, handling, labeling and preparing ARUP specimens for transport in accordance with the ARUP test directory.

You will interact with clients to resolve issues, maintain records, and ensure compliance with DOT, IATA, CAP and other regulatory requirements. A High School Diploma is required; ASCP MLT certification is preferred, with 1–3 years of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or related with one year of experience in specimen processing or lab setting.
• Or Associate's degree with two years of specimen processing, phlebotomy or lab assistant experience.
• Or high school diploma with three years of specimen processing, phlebotomy or lab experience in a laboratory setting.
• Type 30 words per minute.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification from ASCP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pour off, label and process ARUP specimens as they become available in accordance with the specimen handling section of the ARUP test directory.
• Prepare ARUP specimens for transport to ARUP in accordance with DOT and IATA guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of CAP, NY and other regulatory requirements where applicable.
• Maintain contact with local and regional couriers to ensure shipment schedules are maintained.
