Job summary

SET SEG is seeking an IT Systems Administrator in East Lansing, MI to administer, maintain, and improve its infrastructure across Windows, Linux, virtualization, containers, and networking. The role involves troubleshooting, automation, and ensuring security-conscious operations for ongoing business needs.

The position requires hands-on experience with Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and scripting, plus strong networking and identity management skills in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/IS or related equivalent.
• 2+ years managing enterprise infrastructure: Windows Server, virtualization, Linux, networking, backup/recovery.
• Hands-on with Windows Server Hyper-V VM and clustering.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Linux administration via command line (Ubuntu or similar).
• Strong networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls).
• Experience with AAD/Hybrid identity and M365 admin.
• Automation/scripting with Ansible and PowerShell or Python.
• Backup/restore operations and testing recovery.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server Hyper-V VMs and SAN storage with iSCSI.
• Operate and extend container platforms: Kubernetes and Docker.
• Manage identity across Hybrid AD and Microsoft 365 on-premises environments.
• Maintain network configuration across firewalls, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Oversee backup and recovery processes and test restores.
• Automate provisioning and routine tasks using Ansible and scripting.
• Administer Linux systems alongside Windows in a mixed environment.
• Participate in capacity planning, incident response, and infra improvements.
• Support organization phone system and collaborate with IT teammates.
