Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is hiring an Infrastructure Specialist to maintain and support the Operational Smart Grids (OSG) network infrastructure, policies, standards and related projects in support of OSG.

The role involves collaboration with technical teams, project managers and external vendors to deliver operational and project support, with a 24x7 on-call requirement and on-site work in Binghamton, NY. A five-year enterprise infrastructure track and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with infrastructure solutions in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Data Center Operations, Disaster Recover/Business Continuity Planning & Execution, Security & Compliance Management, UNIX/Linux OS, Windows OS, VMware, Citrix.
• BS/BA Degree in Business, Computer Science, or other technical discipline.
• Will consider additional years of relevant experience and/or related technical certifications in lieu of degree requirement.
• Must possess ability to collaborate effectively with customers, colleagues and management.
• Must work well in a team and also independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely responses to incidents, tasks and requests to meet SLAs.
• Work with internal clients, suppliers/contractors, project teams and other technical staff to design and support technical solutions.
• May design, plan and implement changes to the environment for improvements or projects.
• Maintain and support network equipment in OSG.
• Develop technical implementation plans for infrastructure technologies.
• Evaluate, select, and test hardware and software products.
• Maintain regulatory compliance under NERC/CIP guidelines.
• Maintain high quality security controls surrounding SCADA systems.
• Coordinate special assignments from OSG Infrastructure Management.
• Provide 24x7 on call support including potential visits to substations.
