Job summary

Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting represents a well-established law firm in Downtown Houston seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist. This role supports payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and recruitment in a professional, in-office environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of HR experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services, strong payroll/benefits expertise, and the ability to handle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Admin, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years HR experience in law or professional services.
• Experience with UltiPro/UKG payroll systems.
• Extensive benefits knowledge and compliance.
• Strong communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Administration: Support full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing, reconciliations, payroll adjustments, garnishments, tax filings, reporting, and compliance.
• Benefits Administration: Assist with employee benefits enrollment, eligibility, COBRA, FMLA, leave administration, 401(k), profit-sharing, and employee inquiries.
• Employee Relations: Respond to employee inquiries, support engagement initiatives, coordinate recognition programs, and assist with internal communications.
• Performance Management: Coordinate employee evaluations, performance reviews, professional development initiatives, and maintain accurate employee records.
• Onboarding & Compliance: Manage onboarding activities, background checks, I-9 verification, employment documentation, and HR policy education.
• Recruitment Support: Assist with job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and coordination with hiring managers.
• HR Operations: Maintain confidential personnel records, support compliance with employment laws, and contribute to process improvements and departmental initiatives.
