Job summary

SSA Group Milwaukee is seeking a People Operations Manager to lead the on-site People function, covering recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance. You’ll translate SSA’s people practices into a consistent, high-performing local employee experience while partnering with the General Manager and site leadership.

You will coach and develop the on-site team, manage the full employee lifecycle, and ensure responsible handling of investigations, training, and retention initiatives in

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive HR experience in a site-based, hospitality, retail, or frontline workforce environment.
• Experience leading employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, and corrective action.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing employee documentation end-to-end.
• Experience supporting a high‑volume, hourly, or seasonal workforce preferred.
• Experience with international workforce programs (e.g., J‑1 Exchange Visitor programs) a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and demonstrated leadership experience considered

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site employee experience from hire to exit, fostering a culture where team members feel valued and motivated to grow.
• Design and lead local engagement initiatives and HQ-led programs.
• Serve as on-site resource for EAP, leave, and benefit programs; direct employees to the right contact.
• Analyze turnover data and exit themes to identify root causes and retention strategies.
• Build trust with site leadership on how employees are treated and supported.
• Reinforce SSA Hospitality principles in interactions across the site.
• Coordinate and deliver site-level training for policy, compliance, and operational people practices.
• Own end-to-end onboarding including pre-employment paperwork and background checks.
• Own timekeeping oversight and attendance trend analysis to drive corrective action.
• Lead on-site investigations and handling of employee concerns with proper documentation.
• Oversee personnel separations and compliant offboarding.
