Job summary

NorthKey Community Care is seeking a Health Information Management Technician to compile, process, and maintain medical records in both EHR and paper systems in a compliant manner. The role operates in a hybrid health record environment and is on-site from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at 503 Farrell Drive, Covington, KY 41011.

The position requires a high school diploma with preferred associate degree in health information management and RHIT certification consideration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• One year of medical records/health information experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records is required.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with medical office systems and EHRs.
• Strong medical terminology and coding knowledge.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to health records requests with proper HIPAA/42 CFR Part 2 documentation.
• Process, store, and retrieve electronic health information and manage indexes.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all records.
• Ensure records are complete and accurate; reduce data errors.
• Scan documents into the EHR; prepare data for state reporting.
• Handle disability requests and peer-chart audits as needed.
• Assist with releasing information to authorized parties; log requests.
