Job summary

CHS Career Site is seeking a Health Information Management Technician – Certified to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of patient health records in support of coding, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance. The role focuses on chart deficiency management, unbilled accounts, and EHR maintenance at our Knoxville location.

The position requires familiarity with health information workflows, regulatory reporting, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in health information management or medical records or clerical healthcare role.
• Experience with chart deficiency management, EHR systems, and regulatory reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages chart deficiency workflows and assists providers with incomplete records.
• Monitors deficiencies and ensures compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Processes unbilled accounts to support timely coding and revenue cycle operations.
• Maintains accurate filing and organization of health records in the EHR system.
• Oversees delinquent records suspension processes per HIM policies and regulations.
• Generates delinquency reports and escalates concerns to HIM leadership as needed.
• Performs mandated registry reporting (e.g., tumor registry, EMPI reconciliation).
• Processes and maintains records across multiple health information systems.
• Assists HIM leadership with operational reports, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensures HIPAA, JC, and facility policy compliance and confidentiality.
