Job summary

North Wind Services LLC seeks an Environmental Technician to support LLNL's RHWM program in Livermore, CA. The role encompasses collecting, packaging, labeling, identifying, and storing hazardous and radioactive waste under supervision and in a compliant, safe manner.

You will operate wastewater systems, conduct sampling, and maintain detailed records while working with cross-functional teams to meet high safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in environmental or related field.
• Knowledge of state & federal regulations for hazardous/radioactive waste.
• Field instrumentation like radiation survey meters, pH meters.
• General chemistry principles and contamination control concepts.
• Ability to meet medical qualifications and wear PPE as required.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; work independently or in a team.
• Record-keeping and data management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform waste management activities including PPE and handling of hazardous/radioactive waste.
• Operate wastewater systems, pump-outs, and manage waste container storage areas.
• Test and sample waste to verify characterization and treatment results; operate survey instruments.
• Operate vehicles up to 5-ton and use handling equipment and hand/power tools.
• Provide frontline customer service to LLNL waste generators and coordinate with RHWM.
