Job summary

PowerSecure is hiring a Quality Control Technician for power generation systems. The role focuses on inspecting and testing manufactured generator gear to verify electrical code compliance, proper function, and safety before on-site energization.

Responsibilities include documenting results, loading test sequences, and handling gear with forklift equipment. The position requires PPE use, physical stamina, and occasional local travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required or equivalent
  • NFPA70E required (can be provided by PowerSecure)
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and written directions
  • Ability to document test results and specifications accurately
  • Ability to perform basic math for splice plate length and voltage/amperage calculations
  • Must wear and maintain PPE
  • 2+ years experience with switchgear, electrical, or generator systems or apprenticeship
  • Engineering or programming experience accepted in lieu of direct field experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and functional tests on generator systems
  • Ensure gear meets electrical code and design specifications
  • Record test results and component specs accurately
  • Load files and test sequences per project notes
  • Move gear using forklift or pallet jack
  • Remove and reinstall panels up to 50 lb
  • Travel locally up to 10%
  • Work in confined spaces and outdoor environments
