Qualifications

• Must have a BSN degree in nursing.
• Must have 18 months experience in nursing in any field (preferably emergency/trauma, women's health).
• Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Maryland.
• FNE (Forensic Nurse Examiner) Certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing is strongly preferred.
• Must have current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• The Forensic Nurse Examiner provides forensic physical assessment and evidence collection to patients who are victimized by sexual assault (13 years and older), and interpersonal violence for all ages.
• This includes injury and photo documentation, crisis intervention and prophylactic medications with referrals as appropriate.
• The F.N.E. is expected to provide fact testimony for judicial proceedings.
• The F.N.E. must meet annual criteria to maintain certification (200 hours, 3 exams, 8 hours continuing education), as well as annual OSHA, PPD and Mercy mandatory requirements.
