Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A to operate at customer job sites, performing preventative maintenance and on-site repairs with minimal supervision. You will be a technical resource, ensuring Herc fleet remains in safe operating condition and meeting quality standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, and servicing equipment, educating customers on proper use, and maintaining detailed service reports. On-call availability and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to operate and test listed heavy equipment and tools.
• Ability to read detailed schematics, manuals and labels.
• Own a sufficient set of hand and air/electric tools.
• On‑call availability for operational needs.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Herc fleet at long-term customer sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire and battery work as needed.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to keep it operating properly.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace worn parts to restore safe operation.
• Educate customers on proper use to prevent breakdowns.
• Analyze wear and tear for proper use until next visit.
• Follow safety guidelines at active job sites and keep areas organized.
• Prepare detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
