Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic A to lead quality and knowledge on-site at customer jobsites. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair heavy equipment, and educate customers on safe usage and proper operation. This role requires strong technical skills and a reliable on-call mindset.

You will work independently at local jobsites, build customer relationships, and contribute to fleet reliability while following all safety protocols and Herc procedures.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators and hydraulics.
• Ownership of hand and power tools to complete repairs and services.
• Valid driver’s license and on-call readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for Herc fleet at customer sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire and hose work, and battery replacements.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to keep it in safe operating condition.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Prepare detailed service reports and repair logs for customers.
