Job summary

Clean Harbors in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and plants. This is not a lab-based role and involves both indoor and outdoor work.

The position is customer-facing, supporting HHW collections and lab moves, with opportunities to advance into salary management after training. Travel to various customer locations is required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• By position, obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position.
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, facial hair standards apply for respirator positions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare computer generated packing lists, labels, manifest, and land disposal restriction notifications.
• Inspect storage areas and drums for leaks, spills, and labeling compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Execute jobs at customer locations and ensure final preparation and approval of projects per OSHA/EPA/DOT policies.
• Conduct projects in accordance with site regulations and health and safety plans.
