Job summary

New York Racing Association (NYRA) seeks an Employee & Labor Relations Specialist to advise on labor relations, interpret CBAs, and support union negotiations. The role collaborates with Counsel to prepare for contract talks and coaches management on performance and policy compliance.

Based on-site at Belmont Racetrack with a 9am-5pm schedule from Wednesday to Sunday; occasional travel to Garden City, NY, for meetings.

Qualifications

Requires college degree minimum and 3 years of progressive experience in employee and labor relations.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred though not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and HRIS systems; familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot is a plus.

Responsibilities

Advise assigned business units on employee and labor relations; interpret policies and CBAs.
Prepare for contract negotiations with Counsel; support union negotiations and contract interpretations.
Investigate employee complaints with legal guidance and recommend fair resolutions.
Coach managers and employees on performance issues; improve performance through guidance and interventions.
Collaborate on special projects and travel between Belmont Racetrack and Garden City office when needed.
