Job summary

ABB is seeking a Resident Service Technician to deliver high-quality technical support and service at customer sites. You will install, maintain, and repair equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction in an on-site role.

The position requires a strong background in electrical/electronics, instrumentation, and process control, with hands-on field service experience and the ability to travel up to 15% for training and site coverage. Work primarily onsite at customer locations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work/military experience required.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and utilize for troubleshooting electrical systems, and to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment.
• This role will be a resident position working out of the customer location, however needs to be able to travel up to 15% for required training and assisting other sites.
• Knowledge of the pulp & paper industry is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Execute service work per work instructions and ABB quality and safety guidelines.
• Working with the customer on-site to identify opportunities to improve operations and eliminate pain points.
• Performing field service tasks, identifying issues, and analyzing remotely or on-site in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
• Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
