Job summary

Managed.com is seeking a Data Center Technician for its Buffalo, NY data center. This on-site, full-time role focuses on hands-on server hardware, OS installations, and rapid issue resolution in a fast-paced environment.

You will configure and deploy servers, manage operating systems (Windows Server, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), maintain inventory, and document configurations. Collaboration across teams and adherence to safety guidelines are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience with computer hardware, server builds and installations.
• Experience installing Windows Server and Linux distros (Ubuntu/CentOS/Debian).
• Familiar with data center workflows including racking and cabling.
• Comfort with SuperMicro hardware and components.
• Strong onsite and remote troubleshooting skills.
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational habits.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and deploy physical server hardware according to customer specs.
• Install and manage operating systems including Windows Server, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian.
• Complete technical service requests in person or via ticketing system with speed and accuracy.
• Maintain system inventory and configuration records.
• Perform infrastructure tasks like cable routing, component replacement, diagnostic testing.
• Keep the data center organized and safe per guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support hardware and system needs.
• Support other tasks or projects to meet team needs.
