Synopsys Inc. seeks an on-site Data Center Operations specialist to support the Canonsburg data center, coordinating daily operational needs with global engineering teams and maintaining reliable infrastructure.

You will perform Linux system administration, manage hardware installation and rack layouts, and ensure accurate DCIM records. The role emphasizes safety, process discipline, and cross-team collaboration to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (Red Hat, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu) in a data center environment.
• Hands-on experience in physical enterprise data centers, emphasizing safety and process.
• Understanding of server hardware, racks, cabling, power and cooling.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving, with calm under pressure.
• Experience coordinating with third-party vendors to ensure scope and quality.
• Ability to work independently as the on-site resource and communicate with remote teams.
• Familiarity with Sunbird DCIM and scripting/automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site resource for the Canonsburg data center and coordinate with global engineering teams.
• Perform Linux systems administration tasks, including basic troubleshooting, log analysis, remote access support, and service management to keep critical systems running reliably.
• Install, rack, cable, relocate, and decommission physical server and networking equipment with organized rack layouts and labeling standards.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and DCIM records, ensuring inventory, connectivity, and capacity data stays current.
• Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors performing maintenance and infrastructure work, confirming scope, access requirements, safety practices, and completion criteria.
• Monitor data center health indicators such as power, cooling, rack capacity, and environmental conditions, escalating risks and initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Respond to operational incidents as part of a shared on-call rotation, meeting established response SLAs and driving issues through resolution and follow-up.
