Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer to join our Charleston, SC metro team. You will design, implement, and manage mechanical systems for data centers, collaborating with the Engineer of Record to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.

This role emphasizes problem solving, compliance with codes, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to infrastructure improvements, support site-level design decisions, and help drive facilities projects from concept

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in mission-critical facility design and mechanical infrastructure.
• 3 years of experience with HVAC, cooling systems, and water system engineering.
• 3 years of experience with data center operations and working with mechanical contractors and cross-functional teams.
• 3 years of experience with electro/mechanical assembly and mechanical testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to DC services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements from inception to completion.
• Develop and manage mechanical designs at site level, from basis of design to construction documents for new builds, upgrades, and renovations.
• Collaborate with EOR to respond to site RFIs and align Google's requirements with the design.
• Work with core engineering to develop site-specific requirements during Basis of Design and coordinate schematics with the EOR.
• Own and manage site-level mechanical/cooling issues during project execution and document all DC-related mechanical and cooling design requirements.
