Google seeks a Data Center Mechanical Engineer (Mid) to advance the physical design and operation of our data centers. You will collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure robust mechanical system design, provide engineering guidance, and support construction momentum.

You will lead field‑level coordination, perform inspections, and ensure systems meet standards and safety requirements, while traveling up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years mechanical engineering experience supporting construction for industrial or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with chilled water plants, hydronic balancing, and cooling topologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the definitive technical resource for mechanical contractors and Engineer‑on‑Record, supporting mechanical system design and resolving ambiguities.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address complex issues, design intent, and changes during construction.
  • Lead the field‑side RFI process and provide immediate engineering solutions to avoid rework.
  • Perform site walk‑throughs to verify installations align with specs, focusing on testing, inspection, insulation, and placement.
  • Ensure evaporative and non‑evaporative systems meet project standards, codes, and environmental rules.
