Job summary

ERM is hiring a Lead Construction Safety Specialist to provide on-site support for our key pharmaceutical client in Kenosha, WI. This role offers full-time, 40-72 hours per week, for 12 months with renewal possibilities.

You will lead HSE activities on-site, coordinate with owner, contractors, and ERM PMO, and ensure safety practices align with client standards and regulations. Strong on-site safety leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, safety, or occupational health and safety.
• 3+ years of on-site construction safety experience.
• Certifications: CHST, ASP, or CSP preferred.
• Pharma/high-tech project experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction standards.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction, confined space, fall protection training completed preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Ability to multitask and travel with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage with contractors on behalf of the owner as owner’s representative.
• Promote safety culture across contractor groups.
• Identify hazards and influence safe practices.
• Provide input into planning from an HSE risk perspective.
• Develop site-specific HSE strategies.
• Serve as site lead for ERM’s HSE owner’s representative team.
• Interface between client site leadership, contractors, and ERM PMO.
• On-site observation of construction activities from an EHS perspective.
• Document activities related to EHS performance.
• Train on-site workers and subcontractors on EHS requirements.
• Support project directives from client EH&S personnel.
• Report on compliance with safety procedures and the site safety plan.
• Maintain safety documentation (JHAs, SDSs, training).
• Participate in daily pre-shift coordination meetings.
• Review JHAs and obtain signatures before work.
• Conduct daily site inspections and propose corrective actions.
• Issue daily site observation reports.
