Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on a Washington state construction project. The role involves implementing safety policies, evaluating risks, and guiding on-site safety practices while maintaining office procedures.

The position emphasizes plan development, site inspections, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance. A 4-year degree is preferred, with a valid driver’s license and strong communication skills essential for success

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested
• Valid Driver’s License, required
• Strong communication skills
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partners
• Knowledgeable of the company safety and health program, owner requirements and applicable regulatory standards such as EM 385-1-1
• Assist the project superintendent in the completion, maintenance, and management of safety plans
• Participate in the quality control/safety process including activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections
• Conduct project safety audits including project point files
• Assist with OSHA inspections as necessary
• Assist with accidents and near miss investigations and reporting
• Monitor safety performance of Hensel Phelps and trade partners
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses
• Learn construction process and roles of all positions
