Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a Project Manager to oversee all phases of commercial construction from initiation to closeout. You will plan, coordinate, and lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment with client requirements and specifications.

Responsibilities include developing schedules and budgets, managing procurement, and monitoring quality, safety, and compliance. Strong communication and leadership are essential to delivering projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering preferred; otherwise 5+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects over $5,000,000.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes and safety regulations.
• Excellent project management skills including planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents including blueprints and construction schematics.
• Knowledge of local permits, regulations, and approval processes.
• Strong financial understanding and cost control experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in construction management software, project scheduling tools and cost estimation software; MS Office/Google Suite.
• Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
• Excellent interpersonal and management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage all phases of construction projects from initiation to closeout.
• Establish objectives, scope and deliverables with stakeholders and ensure alignment with client requirements.
• Develop and manage schedules, budgets and resource allocations for cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor progress and ensure quality.
• Manage procurement, bid evaluations, contract negotiations and vendor selection.
• Oversee budgeting, cost control and change orders to meet budget constraints.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress and safety compliance.
• Maintain communication with the project team and stakeholders with updates and issue resolution.
• Develop comprehensive project plans including timelines and procurement strategies.
• Coordinate and oversee construction activities to meet schedules and specs.
• Evaluate and select contractors based on qualifications, experience and cost.
• Monitor KPIs and report project status to stakeholders.
• Ensure safety regulations and legal requirements are followed on site.
• Manage project documentation including contracts, permits, drawings and change orders.
• Conduct regular meetings to address challenges and meet objectives.
