Job summary

Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City, AL is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to join our on-site nursing team.

You will administer medications as ordered, follow nursing standards, and collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and nurses to ensure safe, accurate medication passes. The position offers full-time hours, a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k), health insurance, PTO, tuition reimbursement, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide with state-approved training.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care with Veterans in mind.
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration of medications as ordered by physicians.
• Report errors in medication administration and participate in QA programs.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
• Prepare, administer, and document oral/topical medications per orders.
• Record vital signs and document medication-related observations.
