Job summary

HMR Veterans Services seeks a dedicated Housekeeping Staff member for the Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City, AL. You will support daily housekeeping operations to keep the facility clean, safe, and comfortable for residents under leadership direction.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, waste disposal, sanitizing rooms, and following infection control procedures. This is an on-site, full-time position with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must follow written and oral instructions, make independent decisions, and accept feedback.
• Must interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, visitors, and regulatory personnel.
• Must maintain cleanliness, equipment, and safety standards in resident rooms and housekeeping areas.
• Must work well with others and handle demanding situations.
• Must lift/move up to 25 lbs and assist with evacuations if needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, and rooms daily.
• Empty ash trays and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean floors, windows, bathrooms, and walls per schedule.
• Ensure areas and equipment are stored safely at all times.
• Follow infection control procedures and safety signs.
