Job summary

Qualifications

• CA Driver's license (required)
• Bachelor's degree in leadership, recreation, youth development or related (required)
• Documented residential summer camp leadership experience (5 years preferred)
• Training or education in camping, leadership, ministry, curriculum development, or safety management
• Active Christian faith and commitment to The Salvation Army's mission
• Experience working with children, youth, or young adults in camp, school, or ministry settings
• First Aid and CPR certification (within fourteen days of employment)
• Lifeguard certification
• NASP Certification
• Challenge Course level 1 or CCM certification

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and evaluate summer camp programs with the Divisional Youth Department
• Create and deliver Christ-centered curriculum
• Manage program operations, including staff and camper schedules
• Lead growth and implementation of Outdoor Adventure Camp curriculum, staffing, and training
• Assist with summer staffing plans, salary reviews, and budget preparation
• Lead staff orientation and development promoting professionalism, spiritual growth, and teamwork
• Oversee adventure programs including ropes courses, waterfront activities, archery, climbing, backpacking
• Develop and oversee guest group and weekend programming
• Recruit, supervise, and develop Sojourn and Sequoia participants
• Collaborate with Youth Department and Camp Director on summer camp strategy
• Ensure ACA accreditation and safety/risk management standards
• Assist with program budgets, schedules, reports, and evaluations
• Promote program growth through marketing and trend analysis
• Travel as needed to support divisional initiatives
• Other related duties as required
