Job summary

Transwestern is seeking an Apprentice Building Engineer in Houston, TX, responsible for completing work orders, grounds maintenance, painting, caulking, HVAC, plumbing, drywall, electrical tasks, and general building maintenance under the Chief Engineer.

Under supervision, you will perform preventive maintenance and repair of buildings, systems, and grounds, ensuring compliance with safety and client environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of related building maintenance experience.
• Thorough knowledge of building systems operations, maintenance and repair.
• Valid Driver License (may be required).
• CFC certification preferred or working toward certification.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders.
• May require shift work, overtime and/or on call duties.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair building systems to include plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains and HVAC.
• Perform general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Maintain equipment per preventive maintenance programs.
• Inspect fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation within design capabilities.
• Respond quickly to emergency situations and summon additional assistance as needed.
• Maintain an energy management program to minimize operating costs.
• Maintain building lighting systems, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
