Job summary

West Star Aviation in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of the company's safety program across assigned locations. This full-time, on-site position partners with operational teams to ensure environmental, health, and safety compliance while building a strong safety culture.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of aviation safety experience with SMS and FAA regulations; OSHA/EPA knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in aviation operations or safety management.
• Minimum 4 years’ relevant aviation safety experience.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and FAA regulations.
• Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to implement and improve EHS programs at assigned locations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain air and water permits, conduct regulatory reporting, and ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
• Monitor safety reporting processes and support the company’s reporting system (Vocus).
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS), Safety 24/7.
• Prepare, edit, and review technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Lead monthly Safety Action Team (SAT) meetings at assigned location.
• Conduct and/or support safety investigations.
• Deliver safety training and maintain accurate records.
• Promote a strong safety culture through reporting, data collection, analysis, and information sharing.
• Conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
• Stay informed on industry changes, including regulations, technology, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Quality department personnel on safety-related initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
