Job summary

Omega Plastics Inc. in Clinton Township, MI is seeking an Automation Engineer to optimize manufacturing equipment and automate systems on site.

You will collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to improve OEE, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, with PLCs, HMIs, and robotics experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing.
• Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
• Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair automated manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation equipment.
• Assist with programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots.
• Support new equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Work with Engineering to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Calibrate sensors, vision systems, and automated equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures and support a safe work environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects that increase efficiency and reduce downtime
