Job summary
Owens Corning is seeking an Automation & Controls Specialist for the Jacksonville, FL site. You will work with plant teams to improve safety, quality, reliability, and lean manufacturing while leading automation projects and supporting instrumentation technicians.
Responsibilities include programming PLCs, upgrading electrical and control systems, developing preventive maintenance plans, and coordinating capital projects with vendors.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience.
- Must demonstrate industrial electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Past performance that demonstrates self-starting behaviors and ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Technically orientated and knowledgeable in manufacturing systems.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer programs.
- Navigate SAP Work Order System proficiently
- Database creation and technical reporting
- Proficient in computer programs
Responsibilities
- Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements.
- Participates in safety, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs within the plant.
- Performs tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
- Complies with plant rules and safety regulations.
- Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
- Notifies Front Line Leader of injuries, near misses, or first aid.
- Understands lock-out/tag-out procedures for energy sources.
- Follows NEC and OSHA electrical requirements and LTT policies when troubleshooting and modifying electrical and control systems.
- Coordinates small site-specific capital projects with vendors/contractors.
- Acts as site technical representative for division-led projects.
- Recommends and implements process improvements.
- Programs PLCs to support site operations and projects.
- Upgrades and integrates equipment into automated systems; oversees installation, troubleshooting and debugging.
- Develops/improves electrical PM plans; trains instrument technicians.
- Electrical and automation troubleshooting with meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Oversees panel building, equipment relocation and system design.
- Creates/updates plant electrical prints.
- Provides electrical safety training.
- Assesses training needs for maintenance staff; develops training plans.
- Interfaces with utility providers to coordinate outages.
