Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking an Automation and Electrical Controls Engineer for the Blythewood, SC facility. You will own automation and electrical maintenance, drive safety, productivity, and quality improvements while reducing costs across plant operations.

You will lead maintenance and reliability efforts, troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems, and manage capital projects with the Maintenance Leader and teams, ensuring SAP-based preventive/predictive maintenance and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent training, knowledge, and experience.
Three years of experience in controls or electrical engineering.
Strong safety awareness, commitment and safety leadership.
Must have strong troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of electrical power distribution from 25.5 kV down to 480V.
Knowledge of 3-Phase AC motor theory.
Knowledge of Rockwell drive systems and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Be responsive to the needs of the plant (will be on call) - Availability to work nights, weekend as required for operational support

Responsibilities

Lead safety initiatives to maintain an injury-free work environment.
Develop and execute training plans for maintenance personnel.
Troubleshoot electrical and automation problems using PLCs, HMIs, meters, and electrical formulas.
Provide technical support for PLC/HMI programs across operations and maintenance.
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, quality, and cost.
Lead capital projects and coordinate with maintenance and operations teams.
Develop and implement Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs using SAP.
Ensure proper scheduling and documentation for electrical maintenance tasks.
