Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Fire Science/Emergency Management or related field
  • 10 years of leadership experience with emergency response volunteers within the Incident Command System
  • Certified State of Alaska EMT III or ability to obtain within 24 months
  • Completed NIMS ICS (ICS 100-200) courses
  • Valid driver's license
  • Working knowledge of Alaska laws applicable to emergency response
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Serve as On-Scene Commander to safely mitigate incidents when risk is appropriate
  • Collaborate to recruit, train and organize an on-call emergency response force
  • Coordinate with peers to develop cost-effective external training programs
  • Manage a fleet of emergency response equipment and ensure readiness
  • Coordinate with Alaska Clean Seas supervisory personnel on scope and roles
  • Maintain and train personnel on the shared policy manual for compliance
  • Lead multi-tiered fire prevention programs and pre-fire planning
  • Investigate incidents for cause and recommend corrective actions
  • Act as SME and contact for asset operations and agencies
  • Build strong relationships across teams to improve interdependencies
  • Develop and retain a high-performing, engaged team
  • Drive change and continuous improvement with adaptability
  • Understand financial indicators and their business impact
