Job summary

Lumafield, based in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer focused on On-Prem Systems to own Voyager, the CT data platform inside customer walls. You will decide rack components, performance, cost, and testability for edge deployments.

This role is hands-on, in-person at our SF office, with a focus on architecture, prototyping, and production engineering for deployment in air-gapped and cloud-restricted environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building and operating physical server infrastructure
• Experience with Linux server administration, network troubleshooting, docker deployments, productionizing systems
• Experience configuring Linux systems, best practices, and automating workflows with Ansible and scripting
• Hands-on with bare-metal provisioning: PXE/netboot, cloud-init, golden images, firmware/BIOS via Redfish or IPMI
• Deep networking knowledge: VLANs/subnetting, DHCP/DNS, firewall policy, link aggregation
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes on fixed capacity

Responsibilities

• Design standalone, high-performant On-Prem systems: compute nodes, storage topology, networking, power, rack layout
• Prototype and profile: benchmark throughput, network bandwidth, memory contention
• Produce engineering deliverables for Manufacturing: BOMs, wiring/rack diagrams, network/IP plans, test work instructions
• Harden the appliance for customer sites: encryption, segmentation, firewall policies, air-gap update mechanisms
• Run Kubernetes on fixed capacity: node pools, worker placement, storage and DB services
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Services to scale prototypes to repeatable product
• Feed constraints back into the roadmap for next-gen hardware integration
