Job summary

City of Farmington is seeking a Heavy Equipment and On Highway Lube Technician to maintain and service the city’s fleet at the MOC Vehicle Maintenance Shop. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m.

– 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires a high school diploma or GED with mechanics training, CDL or ability to obtain within nine months, and ASE certifications within nine months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with some specialized training in mechanics
• ASE certifications required within nine months of hire date
• CDL required or ability to obtain within nine months
• Baseline audiometric examination required
• Extensive background checks and pre-employment physical/drug test required
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; CDL preferred
• 1 year of related experience or equivalent
• Some computer experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles and mechanical equipment in the City's fleet
• Perform preventive maintenance on heavy trucks and equipment including lubrication
• Operate diagnostic tools and hand/electric/air tools
• Troubleshoot and perform light repairs, refer major issues to lead
• Inspect and replace parts, perform navigation of maintenance records
• Be on 24-hour call on a rotating schedule including weekends/holidays
• Document work orders and time in the City system
