Job summary

The City of Farmington invites applications for the position of Heavy Truck and Equipment Mechanic in the General Service/Vehicle Maintenance department. The role performs maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on the City’s fleet, including snowplows, and requires on-call availability and a valid CDL/ASE within nine months.

Ideal candidates have high school education with technical training, 3 years of related experience, and proficiency with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with specialized mechanical training.
• Valid CDLs and ASE certifications within 9 months.
• 3 years related experience or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain 24-hour on-call availability.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on city fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose, test, service, and repair engines, brakes, trans, electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate work orders and records.
• Coordinate with Heavy Equipment Lead on priorities.
• Work on snowplows and related equipment.
