Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Military and Family Life Counselor for summer short-term and on-demand assignments across military installations. The role covers adult and CYB counseling, with brief therapy and solution-focused techniques, to service members and families.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field (or social work), current licensure, US citizenship, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a mental health field or social work.
• Willing to accept assignments of undefined periods including weekends.
• Full-time coverage for varying lengths from weekend to two weeks.
• Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Must be fluent in English and a US citizen.
• Prior military service or familiarity with military culture desired.
• Meet Magellan MFLC criteria for experience with children and youth.
• Presence on installation; maintain confidentiality and provide services to service members and families.
• May be required to comply with site immunization or vaccination records.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term, non-medical counseling to adults, children, and youth of service members.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web app.
• Deliver training and health and wellness presentations.
• Coordinate with DoD installation POC to meet needs of the facility.
• Respond to critical incidents or special requests as directed by the POC and MFLC program manager.
