Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Summer/ARC Military and Family Life Counselor to provide short-term, surge and on-demand counseling for military personnel and families. The role covers May 15 to September 15, with potential assignments at DoDEA or community schools and youth programs.

You will deliver non-medical, brief, solution-focused counseling and health education on base and in school environments. You will work with the installation POC, ensure confidentiality, and support CYB or MFLC

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health field or social work.
• Willing to accept assignments on short notice including weekends.
• Able to cover varying lengths from a weekend to two weeks.
• Fluent in English and US citizenship.
• Experience with DoD/MFLC criteria for CYB preferred.

Responsibilities

• With short notice, accept assignments of undefined periods including weekends.
• Cover full-time assignments of varying length from a weekend to two weeks.
• Quickly builds rapport with service personnel, family members, students, parents and coworkers.
• Adaptable to new working conditions and location rules; adjusts working style to each environment.
• Work effectively with minimal instruction and guidance.
• Listens carefully to instructions and participates in in-services/training as assigned.
• Engage and communicate with military members, spouses or children to accomplish job functions and respond to emergent situations on base or in schools.
• Comply with immunization or vaccination requirements as needed.
• Proof US Citizenship and fluency in English.

Education

Master’s degree in mental health field or social work

Licensed independent behavioral health clinician (e.g., LPC)
