Job summary

GRTC in Richmond, VA is seeking full-time bus operators to transport passengers safely across the Greater Richmond region. You will perform pre-shift inspections, follow routes and schedules, and engage with dispatch and riders with clear communication.

The position requires excellent customer service, sound judgment, and adaptability to changing weather and traffic conditions. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and a Virginia driver’s license with a favorable point balance;

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Virginia Driver's License with a positive +3-point balance.
• Ability to complete operator training including routes, schedules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Drive micro-transit vehicles to transport passengers within designated zones.
• Ensure timely passenger pickup and maintain safe operations.
• Provide high level of service under various conditions.
• Regulate vehicle climate controls for passenger comfort.
• Maintain professional appearance at all times.
• Comply with local traffic regulations and report delays or accidents.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and passengers.
• Manage pickups and drop-offs at scheduled locations and times.
• Visually inspect vehicle before shift for safety concerns.
