Job summary

Parkland College is seeking a Wellness Coordinator to plan, promote, and coordinate healthy lifestyle programs for students on campus in Champaign, IL. This 12-month, full-time appointment operates under the Professional Support Staff union and requires strong collaboration with multiple departments.

The role emphasizes independent prioritization, handling confidential information, and engaging with students, staff, and community partners to improve campus wellness initiatives and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or a related field is required.
• Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, HIPAA standards, adult education principles, epidemiology, and ADA.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in alcohol and other drug prevention.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update and implement Parkland wellness programs and policies for students.
• Plan, promote and implement health education and wellness programs; refer to screenings and trainings.
• Collaborate with College divisions and community organizations to plan joint events (Flu Clinic, Wellness Fair, awareness months).
• Coordinate resources to assist students facing financial and food insecurity (Work Wardrobe, Wesley Food Pantry).
• Assist in planning Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and student engagement events.
• Publish wellness-related articles in campus news; coordinate pregnancy resources and lactation room access.
• Provide alcohol and other drug programming in collaboration with Counseling Services and Public Safety and report effectiveness.
