Job summary

San Francisco State University is seeking a Reading, Writing & Academic Support Tutor for the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) for Spring 2027. Tutors support students in reading, writing, oral communication, and study skills through scheduled appointments and drop-ins.

Current SFSU students with a 3.0 GPA or higher who can work in person and online are invited to apply. Training is provided weekly, and tutors start in week 3 of the semester.

Qualifications

• Current SFSU student enrolled at least half time (6 units undergrad / 4 units grad)
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• For undergrads: must have taken or be currently enrolled in a GWAR class
• Able to work both in person and online
• Graduating in Fall 2027 or later (TASC cannot hire anyone in their final semester)

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one scheduled tutoring and drop-in sessions in reading, writing, and academic skills
• Participate in weekly training sessions and mandatory staff workshop before the semester starts
• Assist students in developing transferable professional skills and academic strategies
