Job summary

San Francisco State University is seeking a Reading, Writing & Academic Support Tutor for the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC). This on-site, instructional student assistant position runs January–May 2027, with 8–20 hours per week at the San Francisco campus.

Training is paid and begins in week 1, with tutoring starting in week 3, focusing on reading, writing, and study skills. We welcome motivated SFSU students who enjoy teaching and helping peers across majors, and who can work both

Qualifications

• Current SFSU student enrolled at least half time (6 units for undergrad / 4 units for grad)
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• For undergrads: Must have taken or be currently enrolled in a GWAR class
• Able to work both in person and online
• Graduating in Fall 2027 or later (TASC cannot hire anyone in their final semester.)

Responsibilities

• Provide reading, writing, and academic support in one-on-one scheduled appointments and drop-in sessions.
• Attend paid training: weekly training sessions and mandatory staff workshops; tutoring begins in week 3 of the semester.
