Job summary

El Paso Community College seeks an instructor to provide on-campus instruction in Adult Education and Intensive English Program settings. You will design materials, develop syllabi, and mentor students transitioning to post-secondary education, while coordinating with the department on schedules and assessments.

The role requires collaboration with faculty, adherence to institutional guidelines, and ongoing professional development. The position is temporary and centered on on-campus duties.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Intensive English Program at an accredited university or college.
• Experience with communicative language methodology and student-centered facilitation.
• Ability to teach at the community college level and integrate technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction consistent with the College's philosophy and on-campus presence.
• Design instructional materials and assist in textbook selection.
• Provide course syllabi with objectives, requirements, evaluation methods, and posting by first week of classes.
• Instruct on academic habits and College/ Career knowledge; develop tests and evaluate scores; mentor students transitioning to post-secondary education.
• Assess students, maintain records, and provide feedback; monitor attendance and progress.
• Post and maintain office hours per institutional guidelines.
• Participate in departmental responsibilities; collaborate with faculty to meet goals and attend meetings.
• Assist in planning activities like registration, class scheduling, recruitment, and accreditation preparation.
• Assist in grant development, monitoring, and staff evaluation.
• Contribute to governance through committee service; engage with business contacts and meetings.
• Attend faculty orientation and professional development activities; pursue growth.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree + 1 year Adult Education experience or 18 graduate hours

Intensive English Program experience

Transferable language teaching methods
