Job summary

Hackley School’s Music Institute seeks an Independent Contracted Cello Instructor to provide individualized cello instruction to K-12 students on Hackley campus. Lessons run Monday–Thursday and Friday afternoons, with additional coaching of ensembles as needed.

The role requires a Master’s degree preferred and at least five years of teaching experience. Compensation is hourly, based on lesson length, with 30-, 40-, and 60-minute options and on-campus facility access.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in music or music education preferred.
• Minimum of five years’ professional teaching experience.
• Commitment to developing students’ skills, understanding, and appreciation for the instrument and for music.
• Ability to provide tailored lesson plans for each student and describe best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized cello instruction to K-12 students on a weekly basis.
• Prepare tailored lesson plans and materials in advance of each lesson.
• Describe and demonstrate best practice in practice and performance skills.
• Maintain daily lesson logs for each student using Google Drive.
• Attend Music Institute meetings and maintain professional standards.
