Job description

Position Overview

Suzuki Cello instructors provide individualized private lessons and support students’ musical growth across HBMS’s core programs (Private Lessons, Progress Program, Performance Program, Musicianship, and Ensembles). Instructors report to the Dean and may also coach chamber ensembles, lead sectional rehearsals, teach classes, or take on occasional administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Teach private lessons and support ongoing student progress.
• Demonstrate and reinforce effective practice and performance techniques.
• Create and share Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Provide informal feedback throughout the year and formal feedback via end-of-year Progress Reports.
• Prepare and submit students for recitals, festivals, and performance programs.
• Connect musical study with broader cultural and artistic contexts.
• Advise students on opportunities available to them at HBMS, in the community, and regarding collegiate and career pathways.
• Maintain attendance and communicate promptly with families and colleagues.
• Follow all administrative protocols as shared via the Employee Handbook and the Faculty Bulletin.
• Uphold HBMS Code of Conduct and complete required trainings.

Qualifications
