Job summary

Hackley School’s Music Institute seeks an Independent Contracted Cello Instructor to provide individualized cello instruction to K-12 students on Hackley campus. Lessons run Monday–Thursday and Friday afternoons, with additional coaching of ensembles as needed.

The role requires a Master’s degree preferred and at least five years of teaching experience. Compensation is hourly, based on lesson length, with 30-, 40-, and 60-minute options and on-campus facility access.

• Commitment to developing students’ skills, understanding, and appreciation for the instrument and for music.
• Ability to provide tailored lesson plans for each student and describe best practices.

Responsibilities

Summary of ResponsibilitiesHackley School’s Music Institute program seeks an Independent Contracted Cello Instructor to provide individualized instruction to students K-12 on a weekly basis through the school year–September through May, excluding school holidays and winter and spring breaks. Parents and faculty, as well as students and adults from the surrounding community, also have access to our offerings.Our instructors arrange a course of study that is suited to each student’s individual needs. They offer comprehensive lessons in both classical and jazz, as well as–depending on the instrument–musical theater and contemporary music.
