Summary of ResponsibilitiesHackley School’s Music Institute program seeks an Independent Contracted Piano Instructor to provide individualized instruction to students K-12 on a weekly basis through the school year–September through May, excluding school holidays and winter and spring breaks. Parents and faculty, as well as students and adults from the surrounding community, also have access to our offerings.Instructors arrange a course of study that is suited to each student’s individual needs. They offer comprehensive lessons in both classical and jazz, as well as–depending on the instrument–musical theater and contemporary music. Our pedagogic approach to learning an instrument, in addition to developing the skills required to play it, focuses primarily on learning music theory, sight reading, and ear training, but can also explore improvisation, composition, and music production.We have access to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility featuring two large performance spaces (550-seat Music Hall, and 100 seat Black Box theater), and numerous practice studios for instruction.
