Job summary

The Salvation Army in Hawaii is seeking a Security Guard for the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. This on-call, non-exempt position provides a visible security presence, monitors facilities during hours and after hours, and enforces safety procedures in a faith-based community center.

Responsibilities include patrols, access control, emergency response, and adherence to center policies. A Hawaii Guard Card and a high school diploma are required, with 1–2 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have current Hawaii Guard Card.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One-two years' work experience.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, follow detailed procedures, and have good customer service skills.
• Equivalent training/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visual security presence by circulating among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Conduct hourly rounds to monitor facility activity and report problems to Security Manager; check stairwells, exits, mechanical room, and fire extinguishers.
• Under Facilities Manager guidance, ensure mechanical systems function properly; check for standing water and fire hazards.
• Monitor alarm systems, sign in/out keys and equipment, admit staff/visitors, check deliveries, and answer the security office telephone.
• Ensure appropriate customers have membership cards for admittance when required.
• Know and apply Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures; conduct emergency procedures as necessary.
• Control crowds as required.
• Apprehend or evict violators after warnings.
• Secure entrances at end of operating hours; maintain a shift log.
• Follow Salvation Army Policies and Procedures; maintain Code of Ethics for Kroc Center Hawaii.
• Attend staff and other administrative meetings; maintain regular attendance.
• Monitor and adjust computerized lighting and timers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
