Job summary

County of Berks searches for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and utility systems in county buildings. The role requires attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and independent judgment for problem solving.

The candidate will work a 35-hour week, with a 7-day, 24-hour on-call requirement for emergencies. A valid PA driver’s license and ability to read blueprints are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in two of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, or automated controls.
• Preferred five years’ experience in building and facilities maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, AHU/RTU, VAV/FCU, chillers, pumps, and motors.
• Inspect equipment and document condition to identify repairs or replacements.
• Ensure control programs operate within established parameters.
• Maintain building temperatures, security, and fire systems per code.
